Rioting in the UK

Why does it take 3 to 4 days for authorities in London to realize that you have to dramatically increase the police response? Why did they have to wait for the PM to make a press conference about increasing the police force... couldn't the Police or Mayor have figured that out after the very first night? 

These are just common thugs and punks. This isn't a civil rights movement. Sure there are Britians that are very frustrated by the lack of opportunity and the UK's ever present cast system. But this is about rioting for the sake of stealing video games and sneakers.

I feel very badly for the innocent. Sure I supposed you can secure your home, but they are burning entire rows of houses. Sure I guess you can grab a kitchen knife but that sort of thing can get you arrested in the UK... even if you are defending your family against 3 masked home invaders (UK Telegraph).

Now the UK Govt is considering the legal ability to shutdown public communications (like Facebook, Twitter and SMS texting) during any future crisis. Wait isn't that what they did in Egypt, Libya, Iran...

So I guess nothing makes sense to them anymore.
