The Weekender bag made of vintage military fabric

Submitted by admin on Wed, 04/06/2011 - 09:29

I love the old style canvas of my vintage military bags from the 1950s. Well Killspencer has a collection of bags made from "historical reserves" of Korean and Vietnam War fabric. They aren't cheap but oh so beautiful. Personally I like their Weekender bag seen below. This would make an amazing, yet stylish, Go Bag.

Update: M&P22 handgun in 22LR coming this summer

Submitted by admin on Mon, 04/04/2011 - 13:11

I was just told by Smith Wesson Corp that their M&P22 pistol will hit retail stores this July 2011. This is great news. I already own two M&Ps (service & compact) and having a 22LR version is going to be very important part of my training and practice.

S&W released the M&P22 during Shot Show 2010 but some delays have pushed back the retail launch date. Here are some of the features included in the Shot Show models:

Drug gangs going online in the UK

Submitted by admin on Mon, 04/04/2011 - 09:14

University of Manchester research team in the UK see drug gangs evolving. Some of the key points:

  1. Graffiti tagging doesn't directly relate to local presence or spike in new members
  2. Drug gangs are not overly territorial
  3. "The view that gangs regularly fight turf wars to protect drug-dealing areas was also questioned in the report."
  4. Guns are difficult to obtain "and cost between £2,000 and £4,000"

USDOT says deaths are lowest ever - TSA says they are crazy

Submitted by admin on Mon, 04/04/2011 - 00:09

Something I just don't understand, why the TSA is the only Govt Dept that seems tasked to completely eliminate deaths. As you can see in the report below the US DOT is very pleased that vehicle fatalities are the lowest EVER and yet still 32,708 people DIED in 2010. That's more than the total population of the small town I grew up in here in Texas. US DOT doesn't invade our privacy with naked body scanners or enacted draconian security measures that even a stupid mad man could bypass at yet deaths still happen.

M1 Carbine kit for your Ruger 10/22

Submitted by admin on Sun, 04/03/2011 - 15:50

I am not a huge fan of the 'tacticool' 10/22 because well I already plan on getting an AR15 that shoots 22LR. But this is pretty cool. Its a wooden stock that is a drop in replacement for the Ruger 10/22 that looks like an M1 Carbine from WWII. Made by E. Arthur Brown Company. The side profile looks almost exactly the same. The stock alone runs for  just $110, the optional sights, sling and stick style 10 round mags are extra.

Well at least one good thing will come out of this whole ATF 'Project Gun Runner' scandale...

In Texas my truck is my castle

Texas Senate approves letting Texans keep guns in car at work.

The bill would ban employers from setting policies that prohibit guns from their parking lots. It is the third time since 2007 the Senate has passed the bill, only to see it fail in the House twice. The latest bill now heads to the House for consideration, and the author of the measure is optimistic it will pass.
