Dynamic LCD sunglasses give SOCOM the edge

Submitted by admin on Tue, 02/01/2011 - 00:05

The Office of Naval Research is deploying some very high tech sunglasses. They use LCDs to dynamically adjust to light levels around the user. Called Fast-Tint Protective Eyewear (FTPE) it changes color in less then 0.5 seconds. Its like your fancy eyeglasses on steroids. So rather then have to stop and swap lenses or remove their eye protection, they can just keep these bad boys on the whole time.

The most famous individual anti-armor weapon in history is now in U.S. hands. Airtronic USA is announcing their production of the RPG –7 (Russian: РПГ-7) rocket-propelled grenade launcher along with a complete complement of ammunition – all manufactured in United States facilities. The Airtronic USA product is a combination of the simplicity of action and operation of the original RPG-7 design matched with American manufacturing precision and technology.

Batman's Tumbler might become a real fighting vehicle

Who thought that Hollywood always gets it wrong? Sure maybe that have no idea how to handle a gun or how suppressors actually work but when it comes to being creative and thinking outside of the box well they just might be on to something. That's what the Future Protected Vehicles department of BAE seems to think.

Oshkosh Defense to Deliver 40 more M-ATVs to SOCOM

Submitted by admin on Tue, 12/21/2010 - 02:16

You just have to love the new All Terrain Vehicles (ATV) that are replacing the HMMWV. Oshkosh already has a $1 Billion contract to produce 2,244 of their M-ATVs. While obviously looking more badass was part of the DoD's original request, these trucks are designed to be more survivable against IEDs and other threats common to the current battlefield.

Photos form a Russian Military Prison

I guess you can file this under "it could have been worst". This is a Penal Battalion based in Mulino village near Kirov Oblast, Russia. Its not a prison but think of this as the worst post among all the bad assignments Russia can choose from.

"These are not the vehicles you are looking for"

Seriously this makes every toy I ever owned look pretty crappy. I want one of these the next time I go tubing down the rivers in Texas. NO ONE will try to steal from my beer cooler if I am riding in one of these bad boys.
